Habakkuk 3:1-6
How often we abuse the word "holy" in our daily life to describe our awe at a grand canyon or something intriguing. God's holiness is unique; we can't fully comprehend him, but we can truly understand him. It requires both his justice and judgment on injustice. He is angry at sin because he is holy. Because of his holiness, Adam and Eve were judged in their rebellion; Christ was crucified for our sins, and the new heaven and the new earth is prepared for the saints. Yet, there is in divine holiness a wonderful balance between judgment/justice and mercy. When we think of his holiness, it is not right for us to feel guilty of our sins, but to feel how great his mercy is. His holiness is displayed in his name, his word and his deeds. God's holiness means separation from sin. At the cross, the Father looks away from the Son as he poured out his wrath on him who bore our sins. We will never be holy like God, but strive to be holy. We can be humble and vigilant because he is coming soon. Come join us at our English service of the International Church in Yangon! Comments are closed.
