"Sabbath Rest”
(Mark 2:27-28) Sabbath Rest is the important thing Christians cannot lose. Because Sabbath Rest is the good news only the church can offer to the society which is full of stress. Sabbath Rest is the mark of God’s redeemed people, a Life of Being Set Free. Read more... For Lifenet groups and personal reflections: 1) Make a list of principles that shape your days. 2) How do we find delight when we feel the lingering tug of so many choices, worries, and responsibilities? 3) Why Sabbath Rest is the mark of God’s redeemed people? And what does it proclaim to the world? (1 & 2 are taken from Sabbath: Finding Rest, Renewal, and Delight in Our Busy Lives, by Wayne Muller, 2013, Kindle, 113; 147) NLIF is an international church in Yangon. Spiritual legacy (Proverb 10:7) – who might want to follow your way? What and who would you make after you? We do leave a legacy, by whatever ways either good or bad, for those who have been closest to us in life in the here and now, elsewhere, whenever we engage with people. (Psalms 6:5; 16:6; 37:18) There are many great people who left godly legacy of the faith for all generations after them, like those listed in Hebrew 11. Abel's blood still speaks (Heb. 11:4; Matt. 23:35). Jesus also left a legacy of people who believe and die for him; and we are his legacy. His word is eternal legacy (Luke 21:33; 1 Pet. 1:24). We are called to help others aware of Jesus' legacy (1 Cor. 3:10-15; 3 John 4), to follow his example (1 Pet. 2:21; John 13:14, 34; Eph. 4:32). The more we live out God's purposes, the more we produce a Christlike legacy. God blessing awaits us (Eph. 1:3; 1 Pet. 1:3); it is our responsibility (2 Cor. 5:19-20). We create our own legacy whether we reproduce a Christlike one or not. Look around, not far, and create your own legacy. God has a purpose for each one of us. When we understand our limits, we can fulfill the purpose of our lives properly. When our boundaries are clarified, we are set free from the things that are outside of our limits. As a result, we can live out our full potential. Limits are a gift from God. Read more... For LifeNet groups and personal reflection: 1) Read Matt 4:1-11. During the 40 days of testing in the wilderness, the devil repeatedly tried to get Jesus to go beyond the limits the Father had set for him. What are the limits? In what way(s) is there spiritual warfare raging over your life around the issue of limits? 2) Share two or three significant limits God has placed in your life. Instead of seeing these limits as our “enemies,” how might they be our “friends” from God? 3) What does make you resist a gift of limits? What are you trying to prove? What are you so anxiously striving for that you've lost your rest? 4) In what way(s) is that more difficult than living out what other people, authorities, or the culture think you should do with your life? Happy Easter! On Easter, Christians all over the world celebrate the resurrection of Jesus. Jesus died on the cross and rose from the dead on the third day. Is that true? Jesus’ resurrection, that is testified by the empty grave, by the lives of his disciples and by the experiences of later Christians. Jesus resurrected. He defeated death. Death has been swallowed up in victory. Because He is risen we have the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, we have the victory over death, over sin and over Satan. Jesus rose to life. He is still living now. He is here. He is now inviting you to his life and his victory. Read more... NLIF is an international church in Yangon.
