The 7th Commandment “Commit, rather than Consume” (Exodus 20:14) “You shall not commit adultery.” This means you cannot treat another person like a belonging. You cannot treat one another as if the other person were a thing. We must respect, love and care for one another because each person has their unique soul and personality and dignity. Read more... For Lifenet groups and personal reflection: 1. What does our culture teach us about sexual relationship? What problems is it causing in our society? 2. What kind of sins can plant the seeds of adultery long before an actual, physical affair? How can we help those who are in danger of falling into these kinds of sins, and those who are committing adultery? 3. Read Ephesians 5:22-33. According to this passage, how does Christ love you, treat you, care for you? How are you connected with him? How will you deepen your relationship with him? How can this deeper relationship with him change your relationships with others? [For a married couple] (Talk to your spouse if possible) God wants a husband and a wife to become one flesh in earthly marriage. What support from your spouse do you need to become more intimate partner in Christ? What will it be like for you to work together so that both of you come to know God, imitate Him, serve Him, and worship Him as one flesh? NLIF is an international church in Yangon. The 6th Commandment Part2 “Living a Life Worthy of Your Dignity” (Exodus 20:13) “You shall not murder.” This commandment is God’s call for every one of us to stop living in fear of each other, in hatred of each other, in anger of each other, and to start loving one another, caring for one another. We can make new culture, overflowing love, joy, justice, hope, healing, peace. This is the life we are living, the life worthy of our dignity. Read more... For LifeNet groups and Personal Reflection 1. Think about two cases: A) a poor street person kills a son of a CEO of a big company, and B) a son of a CEO of a big company kills a poor street person. How would they be treated respectively? What kind of judgment would they receive? How would the world see each case? 2. How dose sin affect our relationships, and social systems? 3. What kind of words do you often listen to and believe when you are angry? Where do these words come from? Where are these words taking you to? Are you coming near to God or going your own way? 4. How will you live your life with your dignity, worth and honor? What kind of attitude and actions may reflect the truth that life is sacred and precious to God? (MP3) 1. Stepping out (Genesis 12:1-3) Move out of your comfort zone, as you do a great job of coming out of your home country to come stay here among strangers. You need to hear God first, through the reading of the Bible and praying. In prayer don't just talk to God, but listen to God in silence as well. Hear the Word and take action on the word by faith. Faith helps us to act on God's word. Mary the mother said to the wedding waiters, "Do whatever he tells you." 2. Have a big vision (Genesis 15:1-6) Talk with God to get a big vision. People get so stressed out because the vision is too big. They have their own different thinking when God calls them to do His plan. God pointed Abram to Himself and the sky to have a great vision/reward. God always has the way out, so celebrate and see what God plans for you. With God you can do it. 3. Invest and serve people for Jesus (Matthew 20:26) Greatness actually means serving people, valuing them. Read and study the Word, apply it into your world. And have godly influence on the society out there. 4. Be on the alert always (1 Peter 5:6-9) Little thing can sometimes hinder a great thing. Only a strong person would confront a roaring lion. Let the devil come close to you as a roaring lion, and let him be afraid to see the power of God in you. We have the light of God in us. We are going to bring God's plan/hope to the world. We can stand, fight and defeat the darkness forces. So the sick get healed, those in chains break free. God is going to use you mightily if you believe and act on His word. The Ten Commandments “Freedom makes love possible” (Exodus 20:13) “You shouldn’t murder.” That is to say you shouldn’t mistreat God’s greatest masterpiece. We should treat one another in a worthy manner, because each of us are created in the image of God. God requires us to love each other as ourselves, to show patience, gentleness, mercy, and friendliness toward others, through which we reflect our dignity, the image of God. Read more... For LifeNet groups and personal reflection 1. Read 1 Corinthians 13:4-7. Think of the situation where you observe the commandment “Don’t murder” legalistically, but you are not loving like in 1 Corinthians 13:4-7. 2. In Galatians 5:19-21 the works of the flesh (sinful nature) are listed. How do these works of the flesh hinder us from loving? 3. (1) How do you see people and evaluate them? What are your criteria? How did you learn those criteria? (2) When we look at someone as one made in God’s image, how will this change our evaluation of the person? NLIF is an international church in Yangon.
