"The world needs more than the message of Jesus. The world needs Jesus." (Jim Lapinski)
We, His disciples are the only ones to represent Jesus with skin on, that is so challenging in view of who/what Jesus is to the world (John 6:68; 7:46; Luke 4:32; 23:4, 47; Mark 6:2; 1 Peter 1:22; John 1:14). We are called to:
How well do we represent Jesus today? (Romans 8:29; 2 Corinthians 3:12-18) Do you know someone so much like Jesus that he or she can be mistaken for Jesus? Christ in you is the hope of glory! Value the eternal rather than the temporary; Care for relationship rather than materials, etc. "Christlikeness is not produced by imitation but by habitation." (Rick Warren) Hence, Colossians 1:27; Philippians 2:15 "Preach the Gospel always. If necessary, use words." 1. The futile walk 2. To know Christ 3. Putting on Christ When we desire to take off our old self, God will take it away. Not only that, but He will give us his new garment. He wants us to clothe in Christ (Gal. 3:27). Instead of mourning, He will give us gladness and honor. Instead of a spirit of despair, he will clothe us with a garment of praise (Is. 61:3). Every morning is the new opportunity to put on new clothe of Christ. We can choose to wear a brand-new clothe of Christ moment by moment. That’s our renewed walk. Read more… For LifeNet groups and personal reflection: 1) What kind of images do you have about God? List them up, and think how those images were made, what influenced you to have those images. And, how does those images of God affect your current relationship with God? 2) Look back last one week, was there any moment you were in the old clothe? Can you remember your feelings and thoughts at that time? 3) Think about something that reminds you to wear the new clothe. (For example, to put a picture card on the desk, to set alarm three times in your working hour to pause what you’re doing and to read one verse of Psalm, etc.) And share your plan with someone and ask the person to pray for you. See how it helps you this week. NLIF is an international church in Yangon. Come and join our English Sunday worship service. Connect with us: www.facebook.com/nlifygn 2 Peter 1:1-13
By God's grace through our faith in Christ, we have received His righteousness, peace and these things. I. We have received His divine power for life and godliness (v.3). II. We have become partakers of His divine nature for escaping the corruption in the world caused by lust (v.4). III. We have to support (add/supplement) our faith-in-Christ (vv. 5-7) with these: 1) Faith with moral excellence 2) Moral excellence with knowledge (of God) 3) Knowledge with self-control 4) Self-control with perseverance 5) Perseverance with godliness 6) Godliness with brotherly/sisterly (Philadelphia) kindness 7) Brotherly/sisterly kindness with (agape) love Warning! #1. Own and develop them, we'll be effective and fruitful (v. 8). #2. Disown and lack of them, we'll be short-sighted, blind and forgetful of the cleansing of our past sin (v. 9). SO WHAT? (v. 10) IV. Be eager to confirm your calling. V. Be eager to confirm your election. VI. Be persistent in doing them. RESULT? (v. 11) VII. We will never stumble/fall. VIII. Our entrance to the eternal kingdom will be richly provided. NOW WHAT? (vv. 12-15) IX. Keep reminding those qualities till we own them. X. Keep recalling those qualities regardless of our circumstances. Come join us at our English service of the International Church in Yangon! Why Were We Created? And How Then Shall We Live?
Audio (mp3) On Adam's first day after being created, he rested with God. Out of our rest with God comes our work. God walks and works with man. Following the fall into sin, we humans still think we know better (than God) today. We need Jesus in person. Two Critical Questions: 1) Why did Christ die? To bring transforming power here and now, and for eternal salvation indeed 2) What am I here for…? God's purpose is for eternal salvation and to demonstrate His love through you and me. It's not about you, your family, career, next adventure or anything, but about Him (Romans 11:36-12:2). Man's chief end is glorify God and enjoy Him forever. To live within God's purpose and shine for Him, there is no real joy compared to that fullness of His joy. Our world today is evil as a result of sin (Hab 1:3-4). God's response to the problem is scatter His people including Daniel (Hab 1:5). He's placed each of you where you are for His purposes – "for such a time as this" (Esther 4:14). God's will for me: Live for me and demonstrate who I AM to you. Cultivate the Joy the enemy has stolen from you. Each of you are a letter for others to read (2 Cor. 3:2-3).
